TOA Program History

TOA Program History

While working as business managers for Africa Bible University and Westminster Theological Seminary in Uganda, Bob and Mary Bolitho noticed that many African Church leaders couldn’t afford to leave their homes, churches, and ministries to receive formal Bible training. Instead of sending these leaders to costly Bible colleges, they realized the training needed to be brought to them in their local communities.

With this vision, Africans Teaching Africans (ATA) was established 15 years ago. A Bible curriculum was created, and select graduates from Bible colleges and seminaries were chosen to teach ATA’s solid biblical foundation to church leaders within their home areas. The program was highly successful, quickly spreading to over 20 countries in Africa and providing foundational Bible training to tens of thousands of church leaders, all while they remained in their home communities continuing their local ministries.

Now rebranded as Teaching Others Africa (TOA), this essential ministry continues across Africa, delivering solid Bible teaching directly to the communities where it is needed. It also fosters unity in the body of Christ as church leaders from various denominations study God’s Word together.
